STRUCTURAL CALCULATION LABORATORY

RTM specialists use Finite Elements Modelling for the analysis and evaluation of the performance and stress level of single components or complex structures, for design optimisation.

ANALYSIS TO THE FINISHED ELEMENTS

Possible evaluations:

- static linear evaluation
- evaluation of geometric non
- linearity as in large buckling, and material non linearity like elastoplastic behaviour and   thermoelastoplasticity (creep)
- simulation of linear buckling
- FEM modal analysis
- static and transient thermal simulation
- simulations of pressing processes.

Structural optimisation is therefore possible, from the point of view of stress resistance, buckling stability, thermoelastoplastic response, dynamic response .

FORGING PROCESSES SIMULATION

In addition RTM runs a software to simulate the forging process, able to test and analyse typical problems of the technology.

Possible evaluations:

- Simulation of 3D process of massive drop forging
- Assessment of formation of defects in the workpiece
- Calculation of process parameters (necessary strengths, energy and power)
- Swage wear and life estimate.

The simulation allows to predict possible defects originated during the forging process, such as an excessive thermal shock, filling defects, problems of material sliding. Process optimisation is therefore possible.
